Welcome to the website for the Algorithmic Politics and Administrative Justice in the EU Settlement Scheme research project. The project is part of the ESRC’s Governance After Brexit programme, alongside the UK in a Changing Europe (UKICE) initiative. It runs from the start of 2021 to the end of 2023.

The EUSS is the UK government scheme designed to determine the post-Brexit UK immigration status of EU citizens and their families who are currently living in the UK under EU free movement law. The project conceives of the EUSS as a live experiment for investigating how ‘the right to have rights‘ is enacted in practice.

The project team consists of Clive Barnett (PI), Kuba Jablonowski (Research Fellow), and Sam Kinsley (Co-I), based in the Department of Geography, University of Exeter. The research is undertaken in partnership with the3million campaign organisation and the Public Law Project charity.
